Welcome to the RETICIRC project website: Circuit specific approaches to retinal diseases

The RETICIRC project aims at investigating by a multidisciplinary approach retinal neuronal mechanisms of vision to find new therapies to restore and preserve vision
in blind patients.

Degenerative diseases of the retina affect more than 12,5 million person in Europe and represent the most common cause of blindness in Europe. Today, no treatment can prevent, cures or substitutes vision of blind or severely visually-impaired patients, despite several attempts.
The retinal circuitry is often involved in retinal diseases and understanding the molecular, cellular and physiological mechanisms of retinal circuit is of prime importance to develop effective strategies for treatments.
